Great publicity Gerry. Just the kind we want to put pressure on the FCO.

 Well Done Everyone.
Congratulations everyone. This is the publicity we want. The people out there must see just what a bunch of petulant eejits we have in the Civil Service who are now hiding behind the Royal Prerogative in the hope that The Queen will pull them out of the hole they have dug themselves in. Now the people of Malayasia are also being informed.

 Me too...
Let me add my 'congrats' to Gerry for his successful interactions with the 'Star'.
...McDangle is right....this is exactly the type of exposure that this bureaucratic idiocy deserves...the more widely we demonstrate to the public how shabbily this generous gesture by the Malaysian people has been treated by small minded UK Civil Servants the better...

 Letter to the Editor...'Star'.
Herewith just submitted as a 'Letter to the Editor' response to the Star article...
Dear Sir/Madam,
Choi Tuck Wo's article on the topic of the Pingat Jasa Malaysia was both enlightening and disturbing.
Disturbing inasmuch as the fact, which your readers will discern from the story, is the British Government's, unfathomably mean spirited, refusal to permit Malaya / Borneo veterans the right to wear this medal, bestowed upon them by a grateful Malaysian nation.
As a veteran, entitled by my service to this honour, I am personally outraged by the small minded and patronising attitude expressed by the UK Government, as are thousands of my ex-comrades in arms. We, all of us - wish to pose the following questions:
Precisely what harmful effect could the accepting and wearing of the PJM have upon the integrity of the Imperial Honours System?
What possible harm can result from permitting elderly veterans the unrestricted right to wear their medal with justifiable pride?
The mind positively reels at such a disgraceful exhibition of myopic, bureaucratic insensitivity.

I can't for the life of me see how HM The Queen can allow the Kiwis and Aussies to wear their PJMs but not allow the Brits to wear theirs.
It smells.
And I know where the smell is coming from. I believe it is called Whitehall, where "they" hide behind a women's skirts.

Yesterday it was the 'Star', today it is that publication's sister paper, 'The Sunday Star' that has an article on our campaign.
Seems that local interest is building.

May I add that I am just one of the founders of this Fight4thePJM Campaign to wear the PJM.
Also, as far as the badge is concerned we had 500 made that were all presented to worthy supporters. The order going to the manufacturers next week will bring the total manufactured to 2,000 badges. It has been presented or purchased in five continents ... countries where it is now worn include England, Northern Ireland, Eire, Scotland, Wales, Nepal, the USA, Canada, Australia, New Zealand, Vietnam, India, China, Fiji, Singapore, Argentina, Thailand, Japan, South Africa, France, Italy, Germany, Sweden, Spain, Portugal, Belgium, Holland, Denmark and, most important of all - Malaysia.
Our Campaign is truly International.
Barry
