Poms sending their civil serpents to Oz?
Australian soldiers fighting in Iraq and Afghanistan are using faulty weapons and ammunition with up to 70,000 of the standard issue Steyr rifles having flaws causing stoppages.

No doubt John, you will be immensely relieved to note that the Steyr rifle is described thusly:
" The Steyr AUG can be considered as the most commercially successful bullpup assault rifle to date."
....so the inconvenient fact that it may let you down in a firefight is probably secondary to the consideration that it is 'a nice little money maker' and 'a right good little seller'?

I recall that there were gripes that the Brits were issued with sub standard weapons which kept jamming, it would now seem the problem is with the dusty conditions which requires more frequent cleaning of weapons.

It could be quite understandable by those who have their fat 'bahookeys' on £1,000 seats in plush £2.9 billion offices, that a soldier who is keeping his head down trying to avoid bullets and bombs that his main concern should be at that time keeping his weapon clean in case it jams.
