Is John's post Off Topic? Should it be zapped in accordance with the F4 Rules of Engagement?

No!

It is On Topic because it relates to Jack Straw. Remember him? He was the Foreign and Commonwealth Minister who presided over the secret creation and then retrospective and retroactive application of Rules that have the effect of Law in that they seek to deprive us of our rights (to wear the PJM) with the authority of Government and the Crown.

And now his special talents and sense of justice have led to Mr Straw's elevation to ... errr ... Justice Minister!! What hope Justice? It's the last Straw! Even for this Jack of all Shades.

Barry

PS This is the same man who, when Leader of the House of Commons, rejected a request for a debate on the PJM on the grounds that he did not understand the Foreign Decorations Rules (even though he had been responsible for the PJM decision). He implied nobody did or could because they were so totally imcomprehensible. Well, I'll go to the foot of our stairs ... what have we been saying for the last two years?

Also worth a read....(relates to above discrimination vis-á-vis EU non-discrimination)

....In addition to the pertinence of John's post; I would urge all to read Geoffrey Holt's excellent letter to Mr Straw to which John links....it is a most intelligently formulated letter of complaint...and one which would seem to make Mr Holt's case quite succinctly....in addition, Mr Straw received, to my secure knowledge, many letters, just as intellingently convincing, in tone and content, on the topic of the PJM fiasco....problem seems to be that Mr Straw is perfectly content to wallow in self confessed ignorance of the 'rules'....just so long as he doesn't have to make any decisions.

Boy if that's leadership in action, I'm sure glad that I didn't have to follow Mr Straw into a swamp in Negeri Sembilan!

Good try, Pete.

That'll teach me to inadvertently leave a door slightly ajar when trying to be fair to all.

In the wider context of where this Government hands out our cash, and its misguided priorities, you made a good point. But related to the PJM? Don't think so! Acceptable language when we know families read this site? Don't think so!

All the best,

Barry

Hang-on 'Jock' he's not as bad as all that.

I remember Jack Straw, as leader of the house, giving a speach in the House of Commons recently when he said he could not understand why the HONOURS COMMITTEE had bestowed a knighthood upon Salmond Rushdie as he [Jack Straw] could not make any sense out of reading any of his books and for the first time in his life, was unable to finnish reading any of them!

Which brings me to my second point:

I wonder how Sir Salmond Rushdie is getting on in the US reading the likes of Theodore Roosevelt's 1907 ON BEING AN AMERICAN.

There can be no divided allegiance here!

Frankly, I think this was just anouther of the HONOURS SYSTEMS 'It seemed like a good idea at the time' decisions, just like the non-wearable PJM decision and, of course, the Governments Pensions discrimination decision too.

Do I think things will change in the near future? Not a hope in hell!

Perhaps I was wrong after all 'Jock' !

So read all about Our 'Jacks' new Criminal Justice and Immigration Bill:-

I note that most these 'stories' originate via The Daily Mail, read what an independant view (Mondotimes) has to say about its content, and political bias -

Daily Mail Ratings

Content: Awful (13 votes)
Political Bias: Conservative (13 votes)
Credibility: Very Low (12 votes)

I rest my case !

Embarassed

Perhaps Brennan and Janvrin et al could have remembered that it is better (more satisfying?) to give than to receive:

I can't be sure whether she felt a proper Charlie or he, a right Tit!

Hmmmm .... so the same science you refer to (13 votes worldwide) must apply to the most independent of independent newspapers - The, errr Independent (15 people worldwide voted for them!):

Content: Very Good (15 votes)
Political Bias: Leans Left (15 votes)
Credibility: High (15 votes)

What's with the 'independent' lean to the left, then?

Personally, I only read The Financial Times (only 6 people worldwide so far ... ):

Financial Times

Content: Very Good (6 votes)
Political Bias: No Bias (6 votes)
Credibility: High (6 votes)

I read it for a balanced view of the news. But I may start investing some dosh and then watch my stock prices rise to make enough to join Colorado-based Mondotimes (Mondo Code LLC) which I see costs $299 per annum for professional membership!

Barry

PS I agree with the assessment of The Daily Mail ... and just about every other newspaper I've ever read ... except the Pink. It really is unbiased. Local newspapers are good.

PPS I am in regular contact with 'journalists'. One says, when he is off to his office, that he is going to "The Lie Factory"! I think that says it all, Fred.

Yes Barry, it does ! It is for that reason I getv angry when, having read a 'story' there are those who think it is gospel, without any further form of investigation to determine if true.
