JUST HAD A LOOK AT PHOTO OF THIS FINE REGIMENT, MARCHING INTO HISTORY,CANNOT BE SURE ,GIVING SIZE OF PICTURE, BUT IT LOOKS LIKE ,SOME OF THE LADS HAVE THE SAME MEDALS UP ,BUT IN DIFFERENT ORDERS,ANY REASON FOR THIS? REGARDS

I believe that campaign medals are put up in the order that you win them?

You are quite correct - the order of wear for Campaign Medals (always assuming that permission has been given formally to wear them) is by the date on which they were awarded. It's difficult from the photo to see exactly what the medals/bars are - obviously there are some GSM(1962) medals in there, and the yellow ones are Iraq War (Operation Telic), but it could be that some of the yellow ones in priority position over the GSM are first Gulf War.

I am sure they were all properly checked by the RSM before they went on parade and that the medals were worn in the proper order.
All the parades went off very well and most veterans of the Malaya/Malaysia/Borneo conflicts were wearing the PJM lapel badges.
The hierachy did not want too much publicity as they were aware of the anger in Scotland about the disbanding of fine Scottish Regiments and they referred to it as a 'solemn' occasion where all involved should march with pride into the future. Anyway, the PJM did not get any publicity in the media but on the BBC News at 6pm. on Friday, 23rd. June, 2006, veterans were seen in Edinburgh with many wearing the PJM lapel badge. I am told on good authority that the lapel badges were keenly accepted by grateful veterans and that the wearing of them did not appear to upset anyone.

On another note it is rumoured that the new Scottish Regiment is short of 631 soldiers and the serving soldiers who had been given a bounty of about £600 for any person they recruited for the regiment, have now had this bounty increased to £1300. They really are quite generous with other folks money if this is true. It is, however, true that the army are suggesting that poor recruitment to the new Regiment of Scotland is due to mothers not wanting their children to join in case they get sent to Iraq. You couldn't make it up.
