Why I responded to your site
I found your site via Britains Small Wars and decided to offer my support for the following reasons. I do not believe that the majority of the Government and Civil servants have any idea or understanding of military ethos. They do not understand that there are members of organisations who fullfilled and exceeded there obligations through loyalty and a sense of duty, not for personal gain. Your campaign for recognition is in line with those who seved on the Artic convoys, their efforts resulted in a badge, or is it now known as a"keepsake". My father-in-law served in the Merchant Navy on the Artic convoys, was torpedoed in the channel and has had no assistance or support from any organisation he is now 88 and registered blind. He didnt bother with the White cap or the "badge" My father flew with Coastal Command,612 Sqdn, on convoy escort ,returning to base after each operation to the comfort of the mess. For this he received the Atlantic Star. Who most deserved the recognition? I know what my father thought. After being discharged in 1945 as a disabled officer it was 1959 before he had an operation to partially correct his spinal damage. He refused to join any ex-service organisation, and his death in 1978 was due in some part to his wartime injuries.
These scenarios are present to day, there is a misapprehention that government cares!

 A welcome...
Welcome to this site and to the Forum Dave!
There is , as you have so succintly pointed out, a very large discrepancy between what politicians say about veterans and veteran's affairs, when it provides them with an expedient 'sound bite' and what they actually DO to the benefit of those veterans in the course of their legislative work at Westminster.
This PJM disgrace (for such it is!) is just another example of the privileged riding roughshod over the rights of the deserving....but we're not going to permit it to remain so!
The best method of assisting is to write!...to your MP if you so desire?...or currently, a nice polite letter to Margaret Beckett would carry a great deal of weight....And NOW is the time!
Just to be of service, Mrs Beckett may be contacted as follows:
Rt Hon Margaret M. Beckett MP
Foreign Secretary
FCO, King Charles Street,
London SW1A 2AH

Welcome to the F4 Campaign and forum, isn't it just a shame these people denying us these rights were not in the same billet or in the next bunk to us in our time, boy would they have a change of heart.
You know in reality most of these people we are up against support our F4 cause but have to go along with protocol, now that is not democracy it is bloody SAD!

Or up to their necks in swamps with their weapon held high, to keep it dry, searching for the enemy.
