While that is going on (more later of what that consists of), some PJMers are feeling a sense of frustration because of the abusive and misleading stuff coming from Denis Brennan. Well, he's got to weave and dodge, hasn't he. He has been trying to prop up earlier dodgy statements that were clearly untrue, half-true or deception by omission – all designed to protect his back and the flawed PJM recommendation.
But his chicanery has been seen to be what it is – the death throes of a Foreign Decorations system bereft of any sense of honour or sense of duty to those who earned an honourable medal. He has been beaten. Read on …
You have won a right that the civil servants tried to take away from you, and you have ensured that this situation will never happen again to British veterans.
1. In the short term you have won the right to wear the PJM: ***** The London Gazette Notice gives eligible PJMers the right to wear their medal - and nothing Brennan has said or done has succeeded in undermining our case for that right – if anything he has made our case stronger.
2. In the medium term you have won a complete overhaul of Brennan's discredited 'Honours System' – as well as a review of the PJM: ***** The following letter is the latest confirmation of the Conservative Party's commitment to review the Foreign Decorations Rules – they have noted our “long-established ‘beef’ that “the awarding of foreign medals and decorations have been implemented inconsistently and [they understand] the frustration of those veterans eligible for the PJM.”
And that makes our two-year fight worthwhile. They understand our frustration dealing with people like Denis Brennan … and they are going to do something about it!
Make no mistake … you have moved mountains … do not underestimate that achievement. So onwards and upwards. Thank you for all your support.
