    Stan
Thanks for the input but those issues ended shortly before I arrived in Malaya but I do remember the Tins of Fags (J Players) from my days in the MN.

    Dear Mr (POSH) MB
Having been enducated in Liverpool, at schools approved by HMG, I do not use the local (liverpudlian) vanacular,sp, but I get the gist of your wrightings. Smile
I no longer reside on the northern shore of the river, but like you I now live over the water in a more up-town location which is very soon to have a new bridge so that I can leave quicker Wink
Nah m8 I squat in Runcorn and run a school for Chavs, Hoodies and wanabies Laughing

    Cheers

As you can see I can not spell Fred yet.

Post The Pool & Mann Island
For those who 'signed on' in Liverpool and used the Pool at Mann Island.
It is now a pile of rubble, gone for ever and ready for building on.
Another part of history gone with the JCB.

Just come across another "Kerfuffle" about medals in the press of 1976 :-

http://news.bbc.co.uk/1/hi/uk_politics/6212949.stm

Even back in them days the Government played dirty Evil or Very Mad.
I have mine. Got it in Senalarger 1977. (another long story Laughing)
Hope its in the right place. I think it is on topic, sort of.

Post The Silver Jubilee Medal Row
Yes they did, only 5 medals per unit were issued causing widespread anger across the Army.

You can imagine the breakdown, 1 to the CO, 1 to the 2i/c, 1 to the Adjutant, 1 to the RSM and 1 to an other. The general concensus of opinion was that most servicemen would have paid the 6 quid willingly if the government was too bloody poor or tight to pay it themselves but no. Then along came the Golden Jubilee Medal, that is another story, every bugger and then some got it but not veterans who had served all of their 22 years plus under Her Maj. Where is the justice!

Medals policy! what bloody policy.

In the light of the postings, I'd better keep quiet about mine then.

Yes, I would agree, the Silver Jubilee Medal WAS a shambles, however regarding the others, it has always been that issue was only to those who were in effective service at the time, and completed the said number of years, I do not recall Veterans EVER being awarded one.

You are right, veterans have NEVER received one but in the case of the Silver Jubilee Medal not many others did also.
