New TV Series "Jungle Green Khaki Brown"

Andy has received this newspaper cutting from his son in Malaysia. It is about a new series on Malaysian TV about the Malayan Emergency - "a crucial period in the history of Malaya".

This sounds like a fantastic serries ... let's hope it's broadcast over here.

Ref The Malaysian TV documentery 'Jungle Green Khaki Brown'. A couple of years ago BBC 2 did a series 'Empire Warriors.' There were about 4 or 5 episodes, one of which was all about the emergency. Sadly with the documentary not given enough publicity, I think it was missed by many hutan vets.

Roy.

Have just watched episode 2 of this series. This dealt with the events of 16 June 1948, the imposition of the State of Emergency and events shortly thereafter.

Made very good viewing with interviews of retired planters and policemen in country at the time. Good archive footage as well.

Will make a point of watching future episodes.

Have just found this item in the NST re the DVD:

http://www.nst.com.my/Current_News/NST/Friday/National/20070706081709/Article/index_html
Have not seen any in the shops yet but will make a special point of checking several outlets tomorrow when I am in town.

I missed several episodes of the series when it was aired here last year so look forward to seeing the whole series.

		  UNGLE GREEN, KHAKI BROWN DVD

At their invitation (print article), I did so. What I did notice was:....while bulk purchases from corporate bodies and GOVERNMENT AGENCIES (my large case) can be made through Nickleodeon Books(M) Sdn Bhd.

I wondered if the 'trade' or 'education' department of the Malay High Commission would be prepared to arrange

for supplies?

I was at the confrontation not the communist threat, however my appetite for background history, stimulated by Roy Follows

The Jungle Beat, makes this DVD an ideal purchase for me.

I looked at the Nickleodeon (UK) web but I had no success in trying, one way or another, of putting my question -

can they supply?
