I watched and listened to the C O of 1st Bn The Royal Anglian Regt. on our local tv last night.
His battalion numbers about 600, during the tour of Afghanistan from which they returned yesterday, 9 men were killed, 6 by rebels, 3 by Americans, over 100 were wounded, some very badly.
He was asked what he thought about the treatment of his wounded soldiers, and he said that the treatment they received in the field was probably better than they would have received at a civilian A & E Department. He also went on to say that he had visited Selly Oak on many occasions, and the care received there was of the highest possible standard, and the criticisms one hears are nothing more nor less than newspaper drivel

Redcap Fred,
No doubt that you are aware, that the Lt Colonel as Commanding Officer of the Royal Anglians who returned home, has to toe the political line.
If he wants to go from a field officer to staff officer, then P and Qs have to be minded.
I can tell you from bitter experience of my own that, speaking out of turn aint going to get you promoted.
Yours aye
Arthur

Arthur, there may well be some truth in what you say, but that has not stopped others with an axe to grind.
